WANT TO HAVE A TASTE?
One of the most exciting ways to understand the ideas and concepts of Orayaart, as well as to develop as a person and artist, is to take our intensive taster experience; the "Naked Canvas’ a weeklong residential course. 

This course is designed to be fun and experimental, with a chance to explore your creativity and your skills.
OrayaArt aims to provide comprehensive compact art courses. The first course is to teach the techniques and tools of fine art in an experiential way. This will give the student a foundation to discover their own inner artist and the confidence to execute their own work and to have the support to develop their own style with the knowledge and skills acquired through experience. The course is thorough, with maximum input in a supportive environment. The course will be set at a pace that suits you, facilitating the individual to express their soul/ spirit/ personality/ creativity, to have fun or to work with their blocks and inhibitions. It will help the artist discover themselves and a new way of being and provide sufficient holding for deep work.

Outcomes:
Each course includes techniques and skills in equal proportion to experiential learning with the aim of producing confident, creative and inspired individuals who will find a new joy and skill in art and through the work produced.

Naked Canvas

 Naked Canvas is an introductory taster course in art and being an artist, and what to expect if you wish to go onto further courses.
An introduction for beginners who are interested in art and who want an opportunity to try out a range of materials and techniques, or a refresh and touch up for artists who have gaps in their knowledge or skills or who want to learn new mediums or techniques.

If you always wanted to give it a go and try to paint and draw then this is the course for you. You don’t have to be able to draw or paint!  This is a chance to experiment.  Materials will be provided and a cosy studio will support you to discover your creativity within a friendly fun environment. Orayaart believes that ‘nothing is impossible,’ and that this is the course for you. Just bring yourself regardless of your expectations and fears and let yourself go.

Naked Canvas' will introduce some of the following from the list below.

Essentials Art Course.

Naked Canvas is a taster courses to whet your appetite for the Essentials. A maximum of ten people will be permitted during each course. The course pace will be guided by you, to suit you. It can either be a relaxing easy going course, a healing one, a boot camp or a self development program. You will get a taster of what is to come and that will determine whether or not the Insideout Art, Art course is the right one for you.

The ‘Essentials’ courses will use most of the following mediums and modules, in various combinations, together with different topics and self knowledge. The Essentials course consists of a block of 6 consecutive weeks which are residential.

Inside out, Art Course.

The InsideOut Art course is a twelve week long, residential art course, conducted in a 3 month block format. Naked Canvas and the Essentials are a prerequisite for the more intensive InsideOut Art Course.

 InsideOut Art  is a pioneering, comprehensive and experiential programme that takes you deeper into exploring your inner artist and bringing that person out to play. InsideOut Art is a 12 module course covering different artistic mediums including ;

Oil, pastel, watercolour, collage, crayon, charcoal, pencil, movement, music, modelling techniques as well as other mediums. 

Courses are individually tailored and the order of modules may vary, however, participants can expect to use a variety of techniques including;

• shading;

• perspective;

• complimentary colours;

• still life;

• figures

• paper;

• canvas.

We encourage participants to draw on personal life experience for inspiration, and to have fun and meet new people.

Please note that this course may not be suitable for people with allergies to white spirit or turpentine please check first.​​

 

Essentials and Naked Canvas also include a look at the use of perspective, black and white, light and dark, figures, complimentary colours, mediums, modes and role models and more, however, InsideOut Art does exactly that, it brings the Inside Out.

 

A New and profound course designed to give you a once in a lifetime experience. Its more than just an art course.​

 

OrayaArt, will take you on a journey hopefully into and through yourself with lots of laughter on the way.

A journey with yourself, through yourself till you know yourself insideout, through the creative medium of art.

I have never been to Bulgaria before, what should I expect?

More about what to expect in Bulgaria if you have never been before. Some people speak English however you can not rely on it. The currency is Lev. You can use your credit card in all big towns however if you bring GBP with you, it is very hard to change it up, so I would recommend bringing a small amount of cash with you in the local currency as not everywhere accepts cards.  Bulgaria is the country above Greece. It has beautiful mountain ranges and the Black sea. There is a lot of wildlife and nature and it is still unspoilt and mainly tourist free. It is a European country but culturally different from the typical western European you expect, so if you haven't been before it will feel like a whole new world waiting to be explored.

The venue

The courses include accommodation, and meals are provided, however you may need to book additional nights in Sofia, if you wish to arrive and have time to relax before the course starts or after it finishes.

OrayaArt Courses are run from premises on the outskirts of a sleepy village, Kovachitsa. Kovachitsa has about 1400 residents. The village is 20 minutes drive from a large town called Lom, which is set on the Danube river, in the North West part of Bulgaria. It is advisable to check the temperatures before booking, as it can get rather warm.

There is a large Barn/ Studio where the lessons will be held, which is roughly 40 meters walk from your accommodation. In addition there is plenty of outdoor space that may be utilized for some outdoor aspects of the courses such as landscape drawing. Nature is abundant, in this rural and rustic setting, a relaxing place to unwind and focus on the process that unfolds, surrounded by vitality.

The venues are Ability accessible but please add a note if you have any access requirements and let us know what they are in advance.

Accommodation.

  If you are booked on a course, you will have;

Your own bedroom in a house with either your own ensuite bathroom, or a shared bathroom with one other participant.

 Tea and coffee making facilities are communal and can be accessed at all times through-out your stay.

You will be dining in a communal dining room together with other participants at meal times.

There will be basic facilities provided including WiFi

Provided are bedding, towels and toiletries.

Washing machine

Kitchen.

You will be provided with a self service breakfast. Lunch is prepared and a hot evening meal is served.

Unfortunately we cannot cater for food allergies as the kitchen is shared with others on the course.

Being catered for, please check in advance that we are able to accommodate food preferences.

 There is a supermarket in Lom or a small shop within walking distance in the Village that sells all the basic necessities, should you require any additional shopping.

The Studio

The studio provides a large work space for sculpture and Art, with desks and easels for Drawing.

Directions

Sofia airport has two terminals, and a Metro, Train and Coach service. It is also possible to hire a car at the airport.

There are a number of ways to arrive in Kovachitsa from the capital Sofia.

The fastest way is to drive, or take a taxi.

You can take a train or coach, one of which stops in the village, but the rest will go to Lom. It will cost you approximately 20 Lev (£10) and take about four hours, through beautiful countryside. Trains and coaches only run a few services a day so it is best to check arrival times against the services before booking in-case you wish to stay an extra night to explore the capital. Detailed travel instructions will be included on your booking confirmation, unless otherwise requested beforehand.
